Helpline Operations Commence

July 2014
The Helpline begins accepting calls and training workers in the first 100 factories. Training includes how to use the Helpline and what to expect when workers report a concern. Initial call handling protocols are completed after consultation with stakeholders.

Toll-free Number Established

March 2015
The Helpline receives permission to use a toll-free number, giving a major boost to the initiative by providing no-cost access from any location in Bangladesh. 290 substantive calls are received in that month alone.

One Millionth Worker Receives Helpline Access

September 2016
The number of garment workers who have access to the Helpline reaches one million. All workers receive training in small group sessions on how to place a call and what to expect when filing a complaint. Worker satisfaction rates when calling the Helpline remain high at 82%.

Amader Kotha Helpline Center Opens

July 2018
The Helpline celebrates the opening of the Amader Kotha Helpline Center located at Phulki’s offices in Dhaka, marking a new chapter in the initiative’s history. The Helpline is accessible to over 1,000 factories and nearly 1.5 million workers. The Helpline is positioned to become available to meet the needs of the entire RMG sector in Bangladesh in cooperation with participating brands and factories.
